We are very pleased to announce the launch of our new fully self-contained FD2HP-series digital Pitot-static probe. With a precision differential pressure sensor for dynamic pressure and an absolute pressure sensor for pressure altitude, this new product is a compact and high-precision solution for airspeed measurements.

“This product is a natural extension of our existing line of integrated digital probes,” commented Dr David Birch, Director of Research at Surrey Sensors Limited. “With its fully self-contained construction, there’s no need for hoses or external installations- all the hardware is on board.” The absence of external hoses also enables the optional dynamic calibration, which will allow the probe to be used for unsteady measurements with sampling rates up to 800 Hz.

As with other integrated probe products, the sting is removable for repair or cleaning, and is available in a range of tip geometries (including hemispherical, conical and Kiel) and sting configurations (laboratory and flight). With a mass as low as just 30g fully installed, this system is also suitable for use on small uncrewed aircraft. The probe includes all sensing, data acquisition, power conditioning and communications hardware, with USB and UART interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, RS-485 and RS-232 modules are also available).

“We’re very proud of the advances we’ve made in sensing, systems and manufacturing,” added Dr Paul Nathan, Technical Director and Head of Systems; “this is one of several new products we will be introducing in the near future.”

The FD2HP-series Digital Pitot probe is now available, with prices starting at GB£1,420.
