DIGITAL PITOT PROBE
High-precision, self-contained Pitot-static probe for air speed measurement
This fully self-contained Pitot probe system features on-board sensors and A/D, with plug-and-play USB functionality. With the possibility of dynamic calibration for high-frequency measurement, this system provides a robust and practical solution for local airspeed measurement. Ideal for use in wind tunnels, on light UAVs, and in automotive and process control applications, this probe provides a cost-effective solution to a broad range of measurement needs. The modular structure enables probe stings to be removed for maintenance or purge, and offers maximum flexibility in operation.
This system provides a measure of local flow speed, together with absolute static pressure, local fluid temperature and humidity (to obtain density estimates) and an IMU for automatic alignment and vibration warning. With optional dynamic calibration, the probe can also provide single-component turbulence quantities. A low-profile, in-line sensor package (measuring under 18 mm in diameter) minimizes interference, and all the software is included (with a software development kit for NI LabVIEW integration).
Applications
Digital Pitot probe airspeed measurement system

Wind tunnel testing
With 24-bit pressure measurements, on-board ambient environmental sensors for fluid density estimates and a high-precision 6-axis IMU, this system is one of the most sophisticated and functional fluid velocity probes on the market. Available with stock full-scale ranges from 0-15 m/s to 0-110 m/s (with custom ranges available), this system is equally ideal for low- and high-speed aerodynamics.

Motorsport
With package dimensions and communications similar to other velocity probe solutions currently available, this system offers a high-performance, high-precision alternative for wind-tunnel scanning. High fabrication tolerance also provide a recovery factor of better than 0.999 over flow angles of 15°.

Unmanned aircraft
With the option of a polymer enclosure, carbon-fibre probe boom and a total system mass as low as 30g, this system is one of the very few high-precision flight data probes available for light UAVs. The probe and sensor module are integrated into a single component for ease of installation and use, while the low mass, low power consumption and high sensitivity mean that this system is well-suited to low-speed operation over a wide range of altitudes.
